Harden’s Career Performance Earns GLVC Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Freshman forward Hayven Harden has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her standout performance in a 58–54 road victory over the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Thursday night.

Quincy extended its winning streak to four games in the defensive battle, and Harden played a pivotal role in the victory while making her first career start. The freshman poured in a career-high 20 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-11 shooting performance, accounting for more than a third of the Hawks' offense. She also tied her career high and led the team with nine rebounds, including four on the offensive glass.

Harden's impact extended well beyond the offensive end, as she anchored Quincy's defense throughout the night. She finished with one steal and a career-high four blocks, helping the Hawks hold Upper Iowa to just 54 points.

Harden becomes the second Quincy player to earn GLVC Player of the Week honors this season, joining teammate Katey Flynn, who claimed the award on November 17. With the honor, Harden becomes the third freshman in Quincy women's basketball history to earn GLVC Player of the Week recognition and the first since Jessica Keller during the 2005–06 season.

After missing the first four games of the season, Harden has quickly emerged as a key contributor on both ends of the floor. Through 11 games, primarily coming off the bench, she is averaging 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in just 19.1 minutes of action. Harden leads the Hawks with 1.5 blocks per contest and is shooting an impressive 68.9 percent from the field, a mark that ranks first in the GLVC by more than three percentage points.

Harden and the Hawks will look to extend their winning streak to five games on Thursday night when Quincy hosts the Truman State Bulldogs at 5:30 PM inside Pepsi Arena. The contest will also serve as Youth Night, as Quincy Athletics invites all local elementary and middle school students to cheer on the Hawks, with free admission for all kids ages 14 and under.
