Bolton’s 38-Point Night Earns QU Toyota Star of the Week Honors

QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University men's basketball freshman Ethan Bolton continues to rack up accolades following a historic performance on the road, earning QU Toyota Star of the Week honors after leading the Hawks to their first win over a ranked opponent since the 2019–20 season.

Bolton's standout showing came in an 85–66 victory over 22nd-ranked Upper Iowa in Fayette, Iowa. Earlier this week, he was also named GLVC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, becoming the first freshman in program history to earn the league honor and the first Hawk overall to do so since 2017.

In the statement win over the Peacocks, Bolton poured in a career-high 38 points, accounting for 14 of Quincy's first 20 points as the Hawks jumped out to an early lead. He was nearly flawless offensively, shooting 12-of-14 from the field, knocking down 3-of-4 attempts from three-point range, and converting 11-of-13 free throws.

Bolton's impact extended well beyond scoring. He dominated the glass with a game-high 15 rebounds, his third double-digit rebounding performance of the season, including five offensive boards. Defensively, the freshman delivered his most complete effort yet, setting career highs with three steals and three blocks while consistently disrupting Upper Iowa on both ends of the floor.

The performance marked new career bests for Bolton in points, steals, blocks, field goals made, and free throws made, further cementing his rapid rise during his first collegiate season.

In just his first collegiate season, Bolton continues to rewrite his own record book, setting new career highs in points, steals, blocks, field goals made, and free throws made in the win. Through 16 games (14 starts), he is averaging 12.0 points per game, has scored in double figures nine times, and leads the Hawks with 6.8 rebounds per contest while adding 1.1 assists per game.

Bolton has also been one of the most efficient players in the conference, shooting 61.1 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from three-point range, and 81.0 percent from the free-throw line. His 61.1 field goal percentage currently leads the GLVC.

Bolton and the Hawks return to action on Thursday, January 22, when Quincy travels to Kirksville, Missouri, for a 7:30 PM conference matchup against Truman State. The Bulldogs enter the contest with a 7–10 overall record and a 4–5 mark in league play. Thursday's game will be the 135th meeting between the programs dating back to 1920, with Truman State holding a slim 70–64 advantage in the all-time series.
