INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
Ethan Bolton became the first freshman in Quincy University men's basketball history to earn Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors following a historic performance in the Hawks' road win over 22nd-ranked Upper Iowa Peacocks.
Quincy dominated Upper Iowa, 85–66, in Fayette, Iowa, and Bolton delivered the best performance of his young collegiate career. The freshman poured in a career-high 38 points, scoring 14 of the Hawks' first 20 points, while shooting an incredibly efficient 12-of-14 from the field. He connected on 3-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc and went 11-of-13 at the free-throw line.
Bolton was equally impactful on the glass, pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds, his third double-digit rebounding effort of the season, including five on the offensive end.
His dominance extended to the defensive side as well. Bolton recorded career highs with three steals and three blocks, consistently disrupting the Peacocks on both ends of the floor. His all-around effort helped secure the Hawks' first win over a ranked opponent since the 2019-20 season and snapped a seven-game losing streak against Upper Iowa.
With the honor, Bolton becomes the first freshman in program history to be named GLVC Men's Basketball Player of the Week and the first Hawk overall to receive the award since Joseph Tagarelli in February of 2017.
Bolton and the Hawks return to action on Thursday, January 22, traveling to Kirksville, Missouri, for a 7:30 PM matchup against Truman State Bulldogs.
