Hawks Battle to 1–1 Draw at St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The 10th-ranked Quincy Hawks went on the road for their first-ever meeting with St. Cloud State and came away with a 1–1 draw Wednesday afternoon at Husky Stadium.

It did not take long for Quincy to strike. Just over two minutes into the match, Carlos Moreno Henao continued his hot start to the season by finishing a feed from Leo Cann to give the Hawks an early 1–0 lead. The goal marked Moreno Henao's team-leading fifth of the year.

The Huskies answered in the 21st minute when Jalen Joshua Rueter buried a shot off a corner from Matteo Bosch to even the match at 1–1. From there, both defenses held strong, with Quincy's back line led by captain Jake Ellis and Paal Vistnes, each going the full 90 minutes for the second consecutive game to keep St. Cloud State off the board the rest of the way.

Quincy generated chances down the stretch, outshooting the Huskies 12–8 and earning six corner kicks, but could not find the breakthrough. Jake Offerman made five saves in goal to preserve the result, while Moreno Henao led all players with four shots, three of them on target.

The Hawks will now turn their focus to conference play, beginning on Sunday, September 14, when they travel to Romeoville, Illinois, to face Lewis University, the team picked to win the GLVC. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from Lewis Stadium.
