INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released its All-GLVC selections for men's tennis on Thursday (May 1) at noon, naming Hawks' tennis players
Inigo Villacampa and
Joseph Restrepo as first team all-conference selections.
The selection is the second in the career of Villacampa, who picked up an All-GLVC nod last season to go along with serving as the league's 2024 Freshman of the Year. In his sophomore season, Villacampa has continued his fine run of form from a year ago, boasting an impressive 20-5 overall record in singles play while spending the whole season at the No. 1 singles position.
In doubles action, along with his partner, Restrepo, Villacampa was able to secure a 15-4 overall record in the 24-25 campaign, also playing once with
Gianni Lopez and once with
Gerard Abad Puig to accumulate a total doubles record of 16-5.
Restrepo also played with another partner, joining up with
Pablo Mateos Niella on two occasions to also finish the year with a 16-5 doubles record, playing almost exclusively with his partner Villacampa at the No. 1 doubles spot for QU.
In singles action, Restrepo posted an impressive 14-6 overall record, playing in the No. 2 position for the Hawks this season for 12 of those victories and five of the losses. Restrepo also posted a 3-1 singles record in conference play this season, leading the squad in conference wins going 6-2 overall between doubles and singles.
Thanks to the fantastic efforts of Villacampa, Restrepo and their teammates, the Hawks broke the program record for wins in a single season (13) while also earning a second straight trip to the GLVC Tennis Championships where the Hawks will face off against UMSL on Friday (May 2) in Springfield, Ill at 4:30 PM.
Villacampa was also named as the QU recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award for exemplary behavior and sportsmanship.
