Sosa Named Second Team All-MIVA

The Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) announced its All-MIVA awards on Wednesday (April 16), naming Quincy's Aleksandar Sosa as a second team All-MIVA selection in his sophomore season.

Sosa played a much bigger role this season than he did in his freshman campaign, tripling his playing time while emerging as one of the most formidable hitters in the conference, finishing inside the top five in kills per set with a 3.73 average, also ranking 21st nationally. In the process, Sosa finished third in the MIVA in total kills, racking up 369 terminations to go with a team-high 38 service aces.

The Zrenjanin, Serbia native's top showing came on 2/21 against Lewis, where Sosa collected 29 kills, good for a new career mark and just shy of cracking the top five for single-match performances in program history.

In addition to leading the offense, Sosa helped shore up the defense as well, collecting 100 digs in 99 sets played, also adding 16 solo blocks and 56 block assists for a 0.73 blocks per set average, ranking second on the team among qualified players.

Thanks to strong play on both sides of the ball, Sosa collected 451 total points on the season, averaging 4.56 points per set, good for second and fourth in the conference, respectively.

The Hawks last All-MIVA selection was Raje Alleyne last season in 2024.
