QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's volleyball team faced the Buckeyes of Ohio State University for not only its final match of the 2025 campaign, but also the Hawks' final match as a member of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA), falling to OSU in four sets (26-28, 20-25, 25-22, 20-25) in front of the home faithful at Pepsi Arena on Senior Day.
Aleksandar Sosa led the Hawks with 20 kills, his sixth 20-kill match of the season, to go with a service ace and three blocks. In addition,
Dylan Feely picked up his second double-double performance of the season, dishing out 32 assists to go with a match-high 13 digs, also a new career mark for the Hawks' setter.
Relja Milosavljevic led all players with six blocks, adding to his total of 113 on the season with a 1.2 block per set average, ranking inside the top-3 in the country in blocks per set.
Set One
An early four-point run put the Hawks out in front 5-3, before the Buckeyes evened the tally shortly after at 6-6. Neither side was able to break away farther than two points for much of the set, up until a three-point QU run late in the frame found Quincy with a 22-19 edge.
Ohio State responded with a run of four straight scores to press ahead 23-22, before a trading of the next seven points drew the score to a 26-26 tie. In the end, it was the Buckeyes who came through with a pair of kills to close out the 28-26 win in the first set.
Set Two
Four of the first six points went in favor of the home squad, prompting three OSU scores to press ahead 5-4. Quincy remained within striking distance until the 12-11 mark, where Ohio State runs of two and three points stretched the deficit to 17-12.
QU was able to close the margin to three points, but drew no closer as the Buckeyes went on to take the second set 25-20.
Set Three
Six of the first seven points went to the Hawks, as OSU was able to trim the lead down to just a point by the 12-11 mark, before finally coming all the way back to even the score at 17-17 in the later stages of the set.
The Buckeyes then used a three-point run to take their first lead of the set at 21-19. With the threat of a sweep looming, QU buckled down in the clutch, first using a three-point run to press ahead 22-21, before a kill from
AJ Goedheer, an OSU error and Feely block sealed a 25-22 winner in the third set.
Set Four
The Hawks took an early 3-1 lead thanks to a Sosa block, Goedheer kill and error. Ohio State was able to build a slim 11-9 advantage heading into the middle of the set, where QU worked its way back to a draw at 16-16 on a three-point run.
The Buckeyes used a pair of three-point runs to take six of the next seven points, and build a 22-17 advantage heading late into the set. Quincy was unable to close the gap in the final moments of the set, falling by a 25-20 final score to close out the 2025 season.
