Columbus, Ohio - The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association revealed its All-Region honorees for the Midwest Region on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 13). Among the list were the best of the Midwest, including Quincy's own
Nicole McDermott on the second team.
McDermott came in after four years at Clarke University and immediately impacted the Hawks' offense this season. McDermott led the Hawks in scoring, averaging over 15 points a game and scoring 507 points through the Hawks' conference tournament run. Combined with her statistics from Clarke, McDermott surpassed 2,000 points in her career against Missouri-St. Louis in February. She was stellar from the line, leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 153 free throws, nearly 15 more than the next GLVC athlete.
McDermott's defense is just as valuable as her offense for the Hawks. She brought in the second highest number of rebounds for Quincy and surpassed 1,000 career rebounds early on in the Hawks season.
McDermott adds her D2CCA Second Team All-Midwest Region accolade to an All-Conference First Team honor, an All-Tournament Team honor, and a GLVC Tournament MVP award.
McDermott and the Hawks will face the Lakers of Grand Valley State University on Friday to begin their quest in the NCAA Tournament. The Hawks are set to tip off at 4 p.m. Central in Allendale, Michigan.
