QUINCY, Ill. - It has already been a historic season to remember for the Quincy University men's bowling program, and the milestones continue to stack up. In just its fifth overall season, the Hawks have cracked the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Coaches' Team Poll for the first time in program history, checking in at No. 16 nationally, a ranking that has been well earned through consistent, high-level performances against the nation's best.
Quincy has pieced together an impressive résumé throughout the fall, recording six top-10 finishes, including five top-five results, and capturing the program's first-ever tournament championship. That breakthrough came at the prestigious Mid-States Championship, where the Hawks made a statement by defeating No. 18 Oklahoma Christian, No. 3 Wichita State, and No. 4 Newman University on their way to the title.
The momentum carried into the final tournament of the 2025 calendar year, as Quincy delivered its best Tier I finish in program history, placing second at the Collegiate Team Match Games. Along the way, the Hawks knocked off No. 6 Savannah College of Art & Design and No. 12 McKendree University before coming up just short in the championship match.
Leading the charge has been sophomore
Nathan Massey, who has emerged as one of the top individual performers in the country. Massey has paced the Hawks at multiple events this season and claimed two individual titles, taking first place at both the 17th Annual Lions Classic and The Boilermaker Classic.
While the accomplishments to this point have already cemented the 2024-25 campaign as a landmark season, the Hawks still have plenty of bowling ahead. Quincy will return to action after the holidays at the Kegel–ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic on January 17–18, followed by the Eagle Invitational on January 24–25. The season will then build toward the biggest stage of all, as the Hawks compete at USBC Sectionals from March 13–15, looking to continue their rise among the nation's elite programs.
