INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its postseason men's soccer awards on Tuesday, and Quincy University had three players recognized. Senior defender
Jake Ellis and senior forward
Carlos Moreno Henao were each named to the GLVC All-Conference Third Team, while junior defender and midfielder
Lucca Barbero was selected as QU's representative for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
Ellis, a senior captain, was a consistent leader and anchor on the Hawks' back line throughout the season. He wore the captain's armband in all 18 matches and helped guide a defensive unit that finished third in the conference in goals allowed, surrendering just 14 goals and recording six shutouts. Ellis led all outfield players for Quincy with 1,610 minutes played, going the full 90 minutes in all but two matches and spending just ten minutes on the sideline for the entire season. His presence, organization, and reliability were central to Quincy's defensive identity.
Up top, Moreno Henao closed his senior campaign as one of the league's most productive goal scorers. He led the Hawks with eight goals, a total that tied for second in the GLVC, while adding three assists to finish with a team-best 19 points, ranking third in the conference. Moreno Henao logged 1,416 minutes, going the full 90 minutes on five occasions, and recorded two braces along with two game-winning goals in victories over Purdue Northwest and Illinois Springfield. His ability to change matches in the final third served as a consistent spark for Quincy's attack all season long.
Barbero was selected as Quincy's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, ethical conduct, academic responsibility, and positive citizenship beyond competition. As the program's representative, Barbero is now eligible to be considered for the conference-wide Spalding Sportsmanship Award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the academic year.
The honors reflect the leadership, competitiveness, and commitment displayed throughout the Hawks' roster during the 2025 campaign.
