QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team stayed red-hot on Sunday afternoon, collecting its fifth straight win with a 3-0 victory over William Jewell at Jack Mackenzie Field. The result also marked the Hawks' fourth consecutive shutout and sixth of the season, as Quincy continued its dominant defensive form.
The Hawks broke through in the 33rd minute when
Rebecca Rheinheimer buried her fifth goal of the season, finishing off a long throw-in from
Alyssa Amaral to give Quincy a 1-0 lead. They wasted little time extending the margin after halftime, as
Dache Johnson slotted home a goal in the 57th minute off a feed from
Ella Wolfard. Late in the second half, the game was put on ice. Transfer
Faith Niebrugge capped the scoring with her first goal in a Hawk uniform, set up by
Morgan Tucker, to make it 3-0.
Quincy's defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Devin Tracy, did the rest. Tracy recorded two saves en route to the clean sheet, while
Libby Kamp finished the final 15 minutes of the game in goal, where she recorded a pair of saves in her second appearance of the season. Defenders
Reese Wingbermuehle,
Gracie Vierra, and
Monica Shupe put in steady shifts to lock down the Cardinals' attack.
With the victory, the Hawks improved to 6-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in GLVC play, continuing their climb up the conference standings. They will be back in action on Friday, October 10th, when they travel to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst University at 5:30 PM from Bourke Field.
