KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Quincy University women's soccer team continued its dominance in GLVC play on Friday evening, earning its sixth consecutive victory with a 2-1 road win over Rockhurst at Bourke Field.
The Hawks struck first in the 27th minute when
Rebecca Rheinheimer scored off a counterattack, finishing a feed from
Emma Tell to give Quincy the early lead. Rockhurst answered in the 41st minute to level the match 1-1 before halftime, but the Hawks regrouped and controlled much of the second half. The breakthrough came in the 83rd minute when Rheinheimer struck again, this time finishing a setup from
Ella Wolfard to secure her brace and record her fourth game-winning goal of the season.
For Rheinheimer, the performance marked her first career multi-goal game in a Hawk uniform. Between her career at St. Louis Community College and her first season at Quincy, she has now surpassed 40 career goals and 90 career points, further cementing her place as one of the region's most dangerous scorers.
Quincy outshot Rockhurst 18-12, with an 8-3 advantage in shots on target. Wolfard led all players with four attempts and added the assist on Rheinheimer's game-winner, while
Olivia Nelson and
Dache Johnson also created chances in the attack. Defensively,
Reese Wingbermuehle and
Gracie Vierra anchored the back line along with goalkeeper
Devin Tracy. Wingbermuehle logged 81 strong minutes, while Vierra went the full 90 for the fifth time this season, helping limit Rockhurst's opportunities. Tracy finished with two saves to preserve the win.
The Hawks improve to 7-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in GLVC play, staying unbeaten in the conference. They'll look to continue their winning ways on Sunday, October 12th, when they travel to Bolivar, Missouri, to face Southwest Baptist at the SBU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.
