Quincy University Hawks

2024 (Junior): Vela appeared in all 17 games for the Hawks, starting in 16 of them, where she was third on the team, totaling 1388 minutes of action. She took three shots and assisted a goal in a 3-1 victory over Rockhurst (10/13/24). At the midfield position, Alayna played the full 90 minutes ten different times.

2023 (Sophomore): Started 10 of 14 games played accumulating 736 minutes with one goal on five shots and scored her first career goal in a 4-0 victory over the Peacocks of Upper Iowa (9/24/23)

2022 (Freshman): Started 15 of 16 games in the season putting in 786 minutes as a freshman. Tallied one assist and four shots on goal in the midfield. Her first career point came in a 3-0 victory against William Jewell (10/14/22), when she assisted Abbey Haas.

Player Bio: Alayna Vela is a Xenia, Ohio, native, and attended Xenia High School. With the Buccaneers, Alayna was a first team All-Miami Valley League player and was in the National Honors Society. She was also named valedictorian. Her parents are Brandy Claybaugh and Robert Vela and she has two sisters, Amiya and Alexis. 

Why QU?
I choose QU because when I visited it reminded me of my hometown and the environment was great. QU also allowed me to pursue my dreams of playing college soccer and going to nursing school.
