Hawks’ Winning Streak Snapped in First Conference Loss Against Drury

QUINCY, Ill. - Quincy women's soccer saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end on Friday night, as the Hawks fell 1–0 to Drury at Jack Mackenzie Field. The result marked Quincy's first conference loss of the season, dropping the Hawks to 8–2–2 overall and 7–1–1 in GLVC play.

Drury struck early when they found the back of the net in the fourth minute, and that lone goal held up the rest of the way. After conceding, Quincy dialed it down defensively and kept the Panthers from adding to their tally, but the Hawks were unable to find their own breakthrough on the offensive end. Drury frustrated Quincy's attack with a disciplined and persistent defensive plan that limited clean looks and disrupted possession throughout the match.

The Hawks matched Drury in total shots at six apiece, with Jessie Newton and Rebecca Rheinheimer each putting attempts on frame in the first half, but both were saved by the Panthers' keeper. Quincy also held a 5–3 advantage in corner kicks and pushed for an equalizer in the closing minutes, but nothing materialized as Drury clamped down to secure the shutout.

Goalkeeper Devin Tracy made three saves to keep the Hawks within striking distance, while Newton and Ella Wolfard led the attack with five of Quincy's six shots combined. The match was physical throughout, with 21 total fouls and three yellow cards issued, including cautions to Newton and Wolfard for Quincy.

Quincy will look to regroup quickly, returning to the pitch on Sunday, October 19, at noon against Missouri S&T at Legends Stadium. The match will serve as a Green Out in support of NAMI and mental health awareness, as the Hawks look to get back in the win column on their home turf.
