ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Hawks kept their fine duals form rolling with four victories at the Augustana College hosted Fred Johnson Duals on Saturday (Jan. 4). Opening with a 36-13 win over Jamestown before defeating Cornell College 42-5. Next came a 37-10 defeat of the host Vikings before closing out with a 40-5 win over region VI foe, Eureka College.
QU picked up forfeit wins at 103, 110, 124 and 138 while doing the same itself in 207. Alexandra Tchekounova got the action started with a victory by fall in 117 followed up by an
Abby Rhodes win by fall in 131 to extend the Hawks lead to 25-0.
Trinity Donovan secured a point in 145 in a 6-4 decision defeat before another UJ winner at 160 made it 26-8. A Madisyn Crawford winner by fall in 180 along with the QU forfeit in 207 closed out the match 36-13.
A forfeit from Cornell in 103 gave the Hawks an early advantage before tech fall wins in 110, 117 and 124 from
Sereena Baca, Tchekounova and
Angela Lee, respectively, pressed the lead to 17-0.
Another forfeit in 131 propelled the Hawks even further ahead until back-to-back winners by fall from
Maddy Barton in 138 and Donovan in 145 found Quincy leading 32-0 before Cornell got on the board with a fall in 160.
Sophia Sosa and Crawford closed out the match with fall victories in 180 and 207, respectively, to deliver the Hawks a 42-5 win.
A forfeit in 103 kicked off the Hawks match against Augustana before back-to-back tech falls from Baca and Tchekounova extended the lead to 13-1.
The Vikings picked up a tech fall in 124 to narrow the margin to 13-4 before a trio of falls from Rhodes, Barton and Donovan put the Hawks comfortably in front 28-4.
Alexa Valdez grabbed a three points in an 8-2 decision at 160 before Augustana took the 180 match by tech fall to make it 32-10. Crawford closed out the contest with another fall in 207 to give QU a 37-10 winner.
Three forfeits in 103, 117 and 124 along with a Baca fall win in 110 found the Hawks in prime position early on in their final match against Eureka leading 20-0.
Rhodes and Barton added to the fun with two more falls in 131 and 138 to extend the advantage to 30-0 before Eureka scored its first point with a fall in 145.
Another forfeit in 160 along with Crawford's fourth fall victory of the day in 180 ended the match 40-5 in favor of the Hawks to close out a perfect 4-0 day at the Fred Johnson Duals and to move to 9-3 on the season in duals action.
