Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University swim program hosted the #24 Missouri S&T Miners on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11). Despite four overall wins, the Hawks suffered a 168-93 loss to the Miners.

Wyatt Walsh,
Ian Caballero, and
Denislav Koykov began the meet just two seconds behind the Miners in the 200 medley relay.
The Hawks turned around and won three of the next four events and gained significant points in the 1000 freestyle and sprint events.
Wojciech Chalat added another first place finish in the 1000 freestyle Saturday afternoon with a 10:18.05 swim. The Hawks have taken first place in 1000 free events on four occasions this season.
Koykov was the next Hawk to finish first with a 1:45.26 time in the 200 freestyle, inching past Missouri S&T's Adam Wiedemeier by under a second.
Victor Abram finished third in the event, giving the Hawks three points for his 1:48.47 time.
Wyatt Walsh was the final first place finish at the beginning of the meet with his sub-minute 100 breaststroke. Walsh later posted a first place finish in the 500 freestyle, swimming almost a lap ahead of the next Miner. Quincy grabbed ample points in this event as well, with Chalat and Abram claiming the second and third place points.
Koykov picked up two second place finishes in the latter half of the dual. His first was in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 48.93. His second was in the 200 IM where he posted a 2:01.93 time.
The Hawks were neck and neck with the Miners in the 400 freestyle relay but Missouri S&T's closer broke away from the Hawks, giving the quad of
Jackson Rerick, Walsh, Abram, and Caballero a second place finish.
The Hawks gear up for a tough couple of weeks before the conference championship. Quincy will travel to Grinnell College for the Grinnell Invitational next weekend.
