Kenosha, Wis. - The Quincy University men's soccer team opened its 2024 slate at UW-Parkside on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 5). The Hawks outshot the Rangers 17-11, but struggled to find the net in their 1-0 defeat.
The Hawks held onto the Rangers--who have made five back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances--during the first half, limiting the Rangers to just two opportunities on net. Quincy found excitement in the final five minutes of the half, peppering the Rangers defense and striking a point-blank shot at the Rangers keeper.
The Rangers found success in transition when they moved the ball from the left side of the field to the right, played a wall pass around the Hawks, and slotted the ball low to the far post. The Hawks pushed forward for a chance to even things out but were unsuccessful in the final thirteen minutes of the match.
Sophomore
George Roke minded the net for the Hawks Thursday afternoon and made three saves.
The Hawks look to secure their first win of the season with their home opener on September 8th against Northern Michigan. Kickoff will be at noon.
