QUINCY, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Thursday that it will add men's volleyball as its 25th sport with designs to begin play in the 2025-26 season with the Hawks taking part in the inaugural season.
Quincy is joined by other full-time members Maryville, Missouri S&T, Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist along with associate members Roosevelt and Thomas More for seven total teams.
Maryville and Missouri S&T were both independents prior to joining the conference that enjoyed success, both achieving winning records over their independent stints, three seasons for MU and two for S&T
Rockhurst is kicking off its inaugural season this year with Southwest Baptist to follow next season in 25-26.
Roosevelt is in Chicago, Ill., and has not had a great deal of success in the recent past although it has turned around an 0-20 mark in 2022 to a 9-17 record in 2024.
Thomas More is located in Crestview Hills, Ky. Although the Saints have not been great in the last half decade, they have posted a .500 or better record in back-to-back seasons including a 16-12 mark in 2024.
The Hawks will be leaving the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA), after over 30 seasons in a conference that featured many D1 foes such as Loyola-Chicago, Ohio State and Ball State.
Two GLVC members remain in the MIVA in Lewis and McKendree as the Hawks make the transition to their home conference in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
