Hawks Dominate at Davenport

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Quincy University women's lacrosse team traveled to the Mitten State to face the Davenport Panthers on Tuesday (April 9). The Hawks soared high over the Panthers, 18-10.

Danielle Robinson was powerful for the Hawks Tuesday afternoon, scoring eight of the 18 goals, three back-to-back in the first quarter. Ainslie Reynolds and Amelia Ham buried the other two goals in the first quarter, giving the Hawks a 5-2 lead after one.

Emily Leal added to the tally and Robinson followed with another goal shortly after, both assisted by Ham. The Hawks gave way to a few more Davenport goals before Robinson got her fifth of the game with five minutes remaining in the half.

Freshman Anni Moran started the second with a goal from Ham with a solo Robinson goal just thirty seconds later. Robinson had another before Ham scored two more goals of her own, both unassisted. Patricia Chavira finished the third quarter with a last second penalty draw and free position shot she converted into a goal.

Chavira had two more unassisted goals in the final quarter before Robinson and Moran each had their final goals at the end of the game. The Hawks took 40 shots, the most this season with Robinson scoring eight on her own, also a season high.

The other half of the Ham duo, Mikenna Ham, dominated for the Hawks on draw controls, picking up ten. Kelly McClure was in goal for the Hawks and made 12 saves and picked up 4 ground balls.

This week, the Hawks were receiving votes in the top-25 Division II women's lacrosse team list, a huge accomplishment for the program. The Hawks will face #14 Indianapolis on Friday as another nationally-ranked test in conference.
