Electric Offense from Hawks Adds Two More to Win Column

Auburndale, Fla. - The Quincy University softball team propelled past the Northwood Timberwolves and Tiffin Dragons with 11 runs on 16 hits for the day. The Hawks beat the Timberwolves 6-4 and the Dragons 5-1.

Game One vs. Timberwolves
Both teams were excited to play softball Saturday morning, together scoring eight runs in the first inning. The Hawks fell behind four runs off a three-run homer and a single to center. The Hawks bounced back at the bottom of the inning, going three-for-three in getting players on bags. Mykah Hurley drew a walk to bring Isabella Shields across the plate. Kenzie Moss had a hard hit single up the middle that brought Jessie Martin and Allison Kaiser back home followed by Allison Maynard's single to the right that brought Hurley back home.

Quincy came back out in the second inning with Kaiser scoring once more with help from Maddy Findley's single to the left side. The Hawks added one last run to the scoreboard on a Kaiser double that brought home Shields on a throwing error.

KJ Weller earned her fourth win of the season, pitching all seven innings.

Game Two vs. Dragons
Abbey Hultz got the start for the Hawks pitching crew and struck out three before the Hawks were able to get on the board at the top of the fourth. Kenzie Moss and Mykah Hurley each got singles, awaiting a sacrifice fly from Avery Funk to take them home. Moss scored on the fly, giving the Hawks a one-run advantage with just three innings left to play.

In response to the tying home run from the Dragons, the Hawks put up four runs on four hits in the sixth to regain the lead and keep it for the rest of the game.

Hultz got the win on six innings and three strikeouts. Eileen McGinnis came in to finish the game for the Hawks in the seventh, keeping the Dragons off the scoreboard.

The Hawks are 4-2 in Florida and look to continue their success tomorrow with games against American International College and Shepherd University.
