Underclassmen Take Care of the Score; Hawks Fall to Wildcats

Marquette, Mich. - The Quincy University women's lacrosse team finished their trip up north in the Upper Peninsula Sunday morning (Feb. 18) against Northern Michigan. Despite a strong showing from the freshmen, the Hawks fell 17-4.

After a quick goal from the Wildcats, Anni Moran was able to keep the Hawks in the battle with her first goal of the season to tie things up. The Hawks fell victim to fouls and green cards before giving up three goals unanswered. Quincy gave up a fifth goal before Moran put her second man-up goal in the net. The Hawks trailed 7-2 going into quarter two.

The Hawks fell behind three more goals before freshman Aurora Jason scored a man-down goal for the Hawks. Patricia Chavira notched her second assist of the season, sending the ball to Jason to help advance the Hawks. Chavira led the Hawks last season in assists with 18.

Moran finished the game with a free position goal, securing a hat trick in her first weekend in brown and gold.

Kelly McClure received the start for the Hawks in net, tabbing 12 saves.
