COLUMBUS, OH. - The Hawks once again played against the No. 8 Buckeyes of Ohio State University on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 17) as OSU proved too much to handle for a second time, dealing the Hawks a loss in straight sets (17-25, 14-25, 20-25). 

Set One

After losing the first three points of the set Raje Alleyne would get back to back kills followed by an ace by Logan Gieseke to tie the game back at 3-3. The Hawks and Buckeyes went back and forth for a while until OSU broke out on a 9-2 run to extend its lead to 19-12. QU would win two points in a row but OSU finished strong and took the first set 25-17. 

Set Two

The second set would start with both teams making errors until the Buckeys would go on a run and break the set open 12-5. After subbing into the game, AJ Goedheer wasted no time getting his first kill of the game. Three serving errors in a row by OSU would bring the Hawks all the way back to a 5-point deficit. The Buckeyes finished the set on a 10-4 run to take it 25-14. 

Set Three

Keegan Carey collected the first kill of the set for QU but just like the previous two sets, OSU would go on a six-point run that would prove too much to handle for QU. The Hawks put up a fight at the end of the set winning six of the last ten points but this came a little too late as Ohio State took the final set 25-20 to complete the sweep. 

Raje Alleyne led the way with 10 kills.

Quincy University will be back home on Tuesday February 20th to host Lewis University in Pepsi Arena. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
