Aurora, Ill. - The QU women's wrestling team had a strong showing at the Aurora University Tri-Match on Tuesday (Dec. 3), defeating the host, Spartans by a 28-16 margin while also taking out Elmhurst University in a convincing 47-1 winner to finish 2-0 on the day and move to 5-3 on the year in duals action. 

Match One vs Elmhurst

All Hawks came away victorious in their matches against Elmhurst as Quincy picked up three wins by fall for Mackenzie Graves, Autumn Van Bremen and Alexa Valdez in 103, 124 and 160, respectively.

Sereena Baca, Madisyn Crawford and Ana Gutierrez secured tech fall wins at 110, 180, and 207 while the remaining Hawks' competitors each took their matches via forfeit for a 47-1 final. 

Match Two vs #9 Aurora 

Quincy picked up falls from Baca in 110 and Crawford in 180, also getting another from Abby Rhodes in her extra match after the fact.

Alexandra Tchekounova picked up a tech fall win in 117 along with a decision victory for Alexa Valdez in 160. Van Bremen and Gutierrez rounded out the Hawks' winners, taking their matches via forfeit to help power QU to a 28-16 victory over the host, Spartans.

The Hawks are back in action in a couple of weeks, making the trip to Naperville, IL for the North Central College Open on Sunday (Dec. 15). The tournament is set to kickoff at 9:00 AM
