St. Charles, Mo. - The Quincy bowling teams headed down the Mississippi River to compete at the Lions Match Play Classic, hosted by Lindenwood University. The men worked their way up to the championship match on Sunday but fell to the host squad, finishing 2nd overall. The women lost both matches of their bracket and finished in 5th place.
Women's Results
Hannah Herdklotz and
Hayden Bennett both finished in the top half of athletes for the Hawks. Herdklotz finished with a 173 average over three games while Bennett was not too far behind at 167 pins per game.
Jessica Ladd finished with a 477 total over three games and
Riley Meehan averaged 120 pins per game.
In bracket play, Quincy faced Rockford University and Missouri Baptist, falling in two matches in the best of three round against both opponents.
Men's Results
The men finished day one in second place among seven teams.
Cayden Thoms had the top finish for the Hawks with a 204 average over three games for a 612 total pin drop.
Anthony Lundy and
Connor Meegan went 28th and 29th place for their 576 and 575 total pin falls respectively.
Caden Witt averaged 187 pins per game, and
Nathan Massey rounded out the group for Quincy with 536 total pins dropped.
The Hawks worked their way to the top in bracket play, sweeping Central Methodist before competing against a tough William Woods squad. After a 2-1 finish over the Owls, the Hawks took McKendree in two matches before falling to Lindenwood in the championship match 3-0.
The Hawks have a bit of a break before traveling down to Bearcat territory for hte National Collegiate Team Match Games hosted by McKendree.
