Box Score Liberty, Mo. - The Quincy University men's soccer program fell to the Cardinals of William Jewell College on Friday night (Oct. 4). A spur of goals from the Cardinals in the first half put the Hawks under 4-1.
The Hawks went under quickly in the first half, giving up three unanswered goals to the Cardinals. The Hawks were booked for a penalty kick halfway through the half that gave the Cardinals their third goal.
The Hawks had some chances toward the end of the half to close the gap. Three corner kicks followed by two blocked shots from
Ismael Allimadi and
Leo Cann finished the first half for the Hawks.
Quincy got on the board six minutes into the second half off a strike from
Paal Vistnes. The corner kick prior bounced around the box before
Carlos Moreno Henao was able to find Vistnes with his head and Vistnes powered the ball past a sprawled keeper.
The Cardinals responded with a late goal to push the score up to 4-1.
George Roke started between the pipes for the Hawks this evening, securing six saves in the match.
The Hawks will return for GLVC play in Kirksville on Sunday when they face the Bulldogs of Truman State University.
