Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University swim program came back from their travels to the Sunshine State to compete at Southern Illinois on Saturday (Jan. 13). The women's team competed in a tri-meet against Division I competitors from Southern Illinois and Indiana State and the men competed solely against Southern Illinois.

Women
The women faced two tough opponents in Southern Illinois and Indiana State, yet showed improvement on multiple races. Izabella Sparrow was just 1.24 seconds away from the 2017-set record in the 200 yard freestyle. Megan Schill followed up only three seconds away from the 50 freestyle record also set in 2017. The women finished with 39 points and lost to both Indiana State and the home squad Southern Illinois. 

Men
The men had six second place finishes behind the Salukis, but the more impressive swims of the meet came from fourth place finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 50 freestyle. The quad of Jeronimo Augurusa Franco, Wyatt Walsh, Borna Kisasondi, and Santiago Leiva led the Hawks with a 1:33.26 time, which is only three seconds shy of the record set just one year prior. Martiniano Montero has been itching at the 50 freestyle record all season and came within a second of the record. The men finished with 75 points but lost to a strong Salukis team.
