Box Score Fayette, Iowa – The Quincy University women's soccer team finished their travel weekend in Iowa playing the newly-inducted Upper Iowa University Peacocks on Sunday (Sept. 24). The Hawks scored four goals in the contest, shutting out the Peacocks 4-0.
Both teams came out hungry, each throwing up four shots before
Lisa Albarran scored the first goal of the game in the 25
th minute. Albarran received the ball off a throw in in the final third of the field and dribbled up the left side, cutting it near post.
The Hawks added to the party when
Destinee Robertson found
Alayna Vela deep for a cheeky chip over the Peacock's keeper. Not four minutes after Vela's chip did defender
Paige Nguyen put the ball just under the crossbar of the Peacock's goal. Nguyen's shot came from 30 yards out, assisted by Albarran.
Ella Wolfard found the net for the Hawks just outside the corner of the eighteen. The Hawks retired two Peacock goalkeepers in the game.
Eva Norris got her second start of the season and finished with four saves and her first career shutout.
The Hawks come back home for Homecoming Weekend and take on the Prairie Stars of University of Illinois Springfield on Sunday, October 1
st at noon.
