Hawks Split Doubleheader

ST LOUIS, Mo.- The Quincy University Baseball team continued their series against University of Missouri St Louis on Saturday (April 22nd) in doubleheader fashion. The Hawks would split the doubleheader winning game one 6-1 and losing game two by a walk-off 9-8.

Game One

QU wasted no time putting runs on the board as they struck for 3 runs in the top of the first inning of a wild pitch that brought in Austin Simpson and later on a two run RBI single by Dustin Dupont

The Hawks would add one run in the top of the second on an Austin Simpson RBI groundout. In the top of the third Quincy would add on to their lead by adding two more runs on a sacrifice fly by Brock Boynton and an error by the UMSL defense.

The story of the game would be Griffin Kirn as he would throw five perfect innings. The perfect game would come to an end in the top of the sixth inning on a hit by pitch followed by an RBI single later in the inning. Kirn pitched a complete game, only allowing one hit and striking out 13.
