ST LOUIS, Mo.- The Quincy University Baseball team finished off their weekend series against University of Missouri St Louis on Sunday (April 23rd). The Hawks offense exploded for 11 runs on 18 hits as they won the game 11-2.
Quincy University would waste no time getting on the board as they would score two runs in the top of the first inning on RBI singles by Luke Napleton and Austin Simpson. The Hawks would score once again in the top of the third when Austin Simpson would score on a fielder's choice.
After a couple quiet innings the QU offensive would score runs in four consecutive innings breaking the game wide open. Highlighted by 3 RBI's by Luke Napleton, 2 RBI's by Zach Parks, one RBI from Dustin Dupont, Lance Logsdon and Brock Boynton.
Jay Hammel was amazing on the bump as he would pitch 7 innings only allowing 2 runs striking out 2 hitters. Chase Gockel relieved Hammel and pitched one inning and struck out three hitters. Tyler Carpenter pitched the final inning of the game and also struck out three hitters.
The Quincy University Baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the University of Central Missouri Mules for a midweek contest. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
