EDMOND, Okla. – The men's wrestling team competed in the NCAA Division II Region IV tournament on Sunday, February 26th hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.
Program history was made thanks to Phillip Sims in the 149 pound weight class. Sims became the first wrestler in program history to qualify for the Division II National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 10th and 11th.
He would end up winning the 149 pound weight class after defeating Darick Lapaglia from the University of Central Missouri with a 4-3 decision.

Mar-trece Smith also earned a top 4 spot in the 141 pound weight class. That top 4 finish will make him an alternate for the National Championship.
