TOPEKA, Kan. – The Hawks hit the diamond for two more games in the 2nd day of the Emporia State University Classic against Concordia University St. Paul and the University of Minnesota – Duluth. QU would drop both games. The Golden Bears won by the score of 5-3, while the Bulldogs won by the score of 5-1.
Game 1 vs Concordia St. Paul
The Golden Bears went back-to-back-to-back in the top of the 3rd to give them the 4-0 lead. They added a fourth home run in the top of the 7th to make it 5-0.
The Hawks would load the bases with no outs and have the tying run on the bases. Taylor Downen hit a 2 RBI single to left field which made it 5-2 CSP. Mykah Hurley hit a single up the middle to load the bases once more. With one out, Maddy Findlay hit a sac fly to left field to make it a 5-3 game. The Hawks had the tying run in scoring position, but Courtney Mills would go down swinging to end the contest.
Jayle Jennings got her 2nd start of the season and was given the loss as she went 3 innings, giving up 7 hits, 4 runs and one walk.

Game 2 vs Minnesota – Duluth
In the afternoon contest against the Bulldogs of Minnesota – Duluth, the Hawks would go down 4-0 in the 4th inning. The Bulldogs added a fifth run in the top of the 5th to make it 5-0.
Casey Brennan hit the first home run of the year for the Hawks down the left field line to make it 5-1.
Abbey Hultz got her first start in a Hawk uniform going 2 innings, and was given a no decision. Brooklyn Fischer came on in relief, giving up 5 hits, 5 runs, 4 of which were earned. She struck out 4, and walked one.
