TOPEKA, Kan. – The Hawks wrapped up play in the Emporia State University tournament on Monday, February 20th with games against Northwest Missouri State University and Washburn University. The Bearcats of NWMSU defeated QU by the score of 4-2. Washburn University used two big innings to run rule the Hawks and win by the score of 9-1.
Game 1 vs NWMSU
The Hawks would strike first in the top of the 3rd inning as Mykah Hurley singled to right center which brought home Casey Brennan. NWMSU tied the game in the bottom half of the inning by scoring on a wild pitch.
Jayle Jennings gave QU the lead in the top of the 5th on an RBI single to left field to make it 2-1. The Bearcats scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead for good at 4-2.
Jennings would get the loss in the circle going 4.1 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 runs and a walk. She also fanned 5 hitters.

Game 2 vs Washburn
The Ichabods got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 3 hits.
Brooklyn Fischer got a run back in the top of the 4th on an RBI single to center field that scored Ashley Gerber to make it 4-1.
Washburn found their offense in the bottom of the 5th inning as they added 5 more runs to end the game at 9-1 due to the mercy rule.
