Quincy, Ill. - The Hawks and head coach
Courtney Boyd finally checked the box next to "win at home" on their 2023-2024 season to-do list on Tuesday (Dec. 12). Quincy ended their 2023 home campaign with flying colors, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 88-39.
The Hawks came out fast in the first quarter, dishing out 22 points and an 11 point lead over the Trojans. Four sunken three-pointers and points from eight different Hawks started Quincy on a high.
The Hawks capitalized on turnovers in the second quarter, scoring 12 of the 19 points on turnover transitions. The Hawks bench was prominent in the third quarter, scoring half of the points in the quarter. The third quarter's 27-point frenzy is the highest single quarter score since last year's contest against Southwest Baptist when the Hawks scored 29 points, also in the third quarter.
The Hawks defense worked this evening, keeping the Trojans to just 39 points. Sophomore
Rylee Denbow led the Hawks this evening with 14 points and seven rebounds. Denbow went four for seven in three pointers.
Cymirah Williams was next in line for highest points, racking up thirteen points and ten rebounds and recording her fourth double-double of the season.
The Hawks have a quick turnaround and travel up to Bradley University for a mid-season exhibition on Thursday. The game will be at 11 am.
