QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks followed up winning effort last week with another this week, playing host to the Eagles of Midway University at QU Stadium on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 7). Quincy used a big first quarter and a strong defensive effort to come away with a 24-7 victory.
QU got it started from the get go, using a Nassir Carson 32-yard return to start its first drive on the Eagles 47.
Chance Newton carried the first play from scrimmage 47 yards to the end zone for a touchdown with just 15 seconds off the game clock.
Kaden Kaimann knocked in the PAT for a 7-0 Hawks lead and third straight week Quincy has scored on its opening drive.
The Hawks got the ball right back on the ensuing kickoff. A 52-yard boot off the leg of Kaimann, followed up by a fumble from the Eagles gave the Hawks the ball once against at the 14:39 mark in the first.
MU put its first and only points of the game on the board at the 8:53 mark of the first quarter, knotting the score at 7-7. QU answered on the very next drive, finding the end zone in just three plays.

Deuce Allaway, found Carson twice, leading to the Quincy score. First for 13 yards to creep into Midway territory, and then for 45 yards, following a sack, to the end zone to make it 14-7 Quincy and conclude the scoring in the first half.
The Hawks did the rest of their scoring in the third quarter. First, a 27-yard field goal from Kaimann to press the advantage to double digits at 17-7, then a fumble recovery and return for a touchdown from
Ray Lingard on the following Midway drive to make it 24-7.
Quincy gets a week off next week, before traveling to Saint Mary of the Woods IN, to take on Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on Saturday (Oct. 21) for a 1:00 PM contest.
