Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. - The Quincy University women's soccer team traveled to Indianapolis to start its final weekend of regular season play. After a last minute goal from the Greyhounds, the Hawks drew 1-1.
The Hawks tested the Greyhounds early with high pressure from
Ella Wolfard. Wolfard pressed on a backpass and with speed took a shot from outside the goal mouth, forcing an indirect free kick well inside the 18-yard box.
Tatum Brookhart took the kick, deflecting the ball off a Greyhound for a corner kick. The Hawks got a shot off from the corner kick, but it went wide. The Greyhounds had a few key opportunities to score, hitting the crossbar twice and goalkeeper
Julia Mincher saving the other.Â
Hawks built up some excitement in the second half, scoring just nine minutes in. The Hawks moved the ball around the Greyhounds up to
Isabel Montileone who slotted the ball past the defense to Wolfard for an easy touch past the goalkeeper.Â
The Greyhounds fought back after the goal, forcing Mincher to make four more saves. Indianapolis broke through in the 85th minute with a hats-off goal from outside the box.Â
Tonight's tie puts the Hawks in a tough position to break through to the 8th seed in the conference. The Hawks will need a win on Sunday against Lewis to be considered for the conference tournament.Â
