Kirksville, Mo. – The Quincy University Softball team went on the road to Truman State University on Saturday (4/9) afternoon and swept TSU by scores of 9-0 (F/5) and 4-3.
GAME 1
Casey Brennan got the Hawks on the board in the top of the 1
st with an RBI single to center field that scored
Jayle Jennings. Brennan's hot day at the plate continued in the top of the 3
rd as she singled to the shortstop to score
Taylor Downen to make it 2-0 Quincy.
The Hawk offense caught fire in the 4
th inning as they plated 7 runs on 7 hits, while sending 12 batters to the plate. The inning started with an
Audrey Hermann home run to center field. After the Hawks loaded the bases, Downen drew a walk, which scored both
Mykah Hurley and
Ashley Poore.
Allyson Maynard kept the line moving with an RBI single to left field which scored Jennings to make it 6-0. The next batter was
Bailey Mitchell as she singled to center field to score
Allison Kaiser. After a Bulldog pitching change,
Madeline Ruzicka doubled to right field to score Maynard. The last run of the inning came off a bunt single by Brennan, which scored Mitchell.

The Hawk offense picked up where it left off from game 1 in the top of the 1
st.
Allyson Maynard singled up the middle to score
Jayle Jennings. The next batter,
Bailey Mitchell reached on a fielder's choice, which scored
Taylor Downen to make it 2-0 Hawks.
In the top of the 2
nd, Mitchell recorded her 2
nd RBI in as many innings with another fielder's choice to make it 3-0. During the 5
th, Jennings grounded out to the 2
nd baseman, but it would bring
Audrey Hermann home to make the score 4-0 Hawks.
The Bulldogs would add runs in the 6
th and 7
th innings, but
Bailee Highbarger shut the door and recorded the save.
Jayle Jennings got the start and went 6 innings. She struck out 4, while allowing 6 hits and 2 runs.
