QUINCY, Ill.---The Quincy University softball team fell 5-3 in 11 innings and won 7-1 on Saturday (April 16) to split against Missouri S&T in a GLVC double header at the Mart Heinen Softball Complex. 
Game 1
Quincy struck first in the bottom of the first after 
Allyson Maynard reached on an error to score 
Jayle Jennings. S&T responded with two runs in the top of the second, but a Maynard RBI single to center field tied the game at 2-2 in the 3rd. Maynard then doubled to right center field to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead in the fifth. S&T scored a run in the seventh to force extra innings, and then added two more in the top of the 11th to secure the 5-3 extra inning victory. 
Taylor Downen, 
Jayle Jennings, and 
Allyson Maynard each had two hits for QU in game one while 
Bailee Highbarger went 10.1 innings and only surrendered three earned runs. 
Game 2 
Quincy scored four runs in the fourth and three runs in the third to take a 7-0 advantage. Hurley and Mitchell had RBI hits in the second, and then the third inning was highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles by Downen and Maynard. 
Jayle Jennings only surrendered one run in the top of the sixth, and allowed nine hits but went a complete game in a very efficient manner. Jennings also had three hits and two runs scored in game two, while Maynard accounted for two hits and three RBI in game two.
