Quincy, Ill.—The Quincy University Softball team hosted the 5
th ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Monday (3/28) and split the doubleheader. The Greyhounds won game 1 by the score of 4-1. The Hawks walked off game 2 by the score of 5-4. The game 2 win is the first by the Hawks over the Greyhounds in Quincy since April 2017.
GAME 1
The Greyhounds got on the board first in game 1. In the top of the 2
nd, Sydnie Foster singled to left field that scored Kamrie Foster. Then in the 3
rd, Emily O'Connor hit a home run to center field to make it 2-0 Greyhounds.
Both offenses were held scoreless until the bottom of the 6
th, when
Bailey Mitchell drew a bases loaded walk to make it 2-1. The next batter,
Allyson Maynard reached on a fielder's choice, but
Jayle Jennings would be thrown out at the plate. Sydnee Perry hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 7
th to make it 4-1 Greyhounds.

GAME 2
The pitching was unhittable through the first 3 innings as both
Bailee Highbarger and Haylie Foster tossed perfect innings. In the bottom of the 4
th,
Allyson Maynard went deep to get the Hawks on the board. The very next batter,
Madeline Ruzicka sent one over the left field wall to make it 2-0 Hawks.
The Hawks would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5
th.
Jayle Jennings hit a double to right center that scored
Ashley Poore. Maynard singled to left field to score
Audrey Hermann to make it 4-0 Hawks.
Sydnee Perry hit a home run for the Greyhounds in the top of the 6
th to make it 4-1. In the top of the 7
th, Maddy Stout led off the inning with a home run to center field. With 2 outs and 2 runners on, Megan Nichols doubled to left center to tie the game at 4.
In the bottom of the 7
th, after Hermann reached base to lead off the inning, Jennings singled to right field. The 2
nd baseman committed an error that would score Hermann to give the Hawks the win.
