Chatham, Ill.—The Quincy University Softball team traveled to Illinois-Springfield for a GLVC doubleheader on Friday (4/1) and got swept by the scores of 3-0 and 6-5.
GAME 1
It was a pitchers' duel to start the game as
Bailee Highbarger and Payton Long did not allow a hit until
Allyson Maynard doubled with 2 outs in the top of the 4
th. The Hawks would strand her as
Bailey Mitchell flied out to center field. Highbarger allowed the Prairie Stars first hit on a bunt single in the bottom of the 4
th.
The game would stay scoreless until the bottom of the 6
th inning. Illinois-Springfield struck for three runs. The Hawks would commit two errors on back to back batters to give the Prairie Stars a 2-0 lead. UIS would make it 3-0 on a 2 out double.

GAME 2
The Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars struck first in the bottom of the 1
st. They would score on an error by
Eileen McGinnis to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the 2
nd, the Prairie Stars would score 2 runs on a wild pitch to extend their lead to 3-0.
The Hawks would claw into that lead as
Madeline Ruzicka hit a one out double in the top of the 3
rd which scored
Allyson Maynard and
Taylor Downen. In the bottom of the 4
th, UIS added two more runs on an RBI single and then a wild pitch. The game moved to the 5
th inning, UIS had success getting baserunners, which resulted in a two out RBI single to make it 6-2.
Quincy would try to make things interesting in the top of the 7
th.
Jayle Jennings and
Taylor Downen hit back-to-back singles. Maynard came to the plate and would hit a 3-run home run to make it 6-5 UIS.
