ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University men's and women's swimming teams took part in the University of Missouri - St. Louis Winter Quad Meet on Friday (Dec. 17). Both the men's and women's teams came away with a win and two losses on the weekend.
The women's squad dropped their first matchup against UMSL (165-18), and dropped their final matchup against Maryville (140-35).
Faith Cummings came in as the top finisher for the Hawks in the meet with a second-place finish in the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:08.06). Izabella sparrow also added a podium finish, picking up a bronze in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:03.83). QU also added a fourth-place finish to the list in the 200-Yard Medley Relay (2:04.06).
The Men's team fell in their first two contests against Missouri S&T (154-39) and the host Tritons (165-30). In their final matchup QU grabbed a victory over Maryville (92-77) to salvage the meet.
Wyatt Walsh was the top finisher for Quincy in the meet turning in a second-place finish in the 200 – Yard IM finishing just a half-second behind the victor at (1:54.78). Mantiniano Montero added a fourth-place finish in the 50- Yard Freestyle (22.17). The 200-Yard Freestyle Relay team of Walsh, Scritchfield, Montero and Augurusa Franco also finished fourth (1:39.29).
The Hawks won't be in action again until after the new year traveling to Monmouth to take on the Scots of Monmouth College along with the Knox College Prairie Fire for a 6:00 p.m. meet.
