Fast Start Propels Hawks to Victory in Kentucky

MIDWAY, Ky. – The Hawks used a big first quarter and never looked back in their final regular season game against the Midway University Eagles. Quincy won by the score of 40-3 as the defense only allowed 118 yards.

The Hawks got on the board early in the opening stanza as they scored on a Taylor Klusmeyer 28 yard pass to Elijah Leasman. Just 3 minutes later, QU used a 5 play, 45 yard drive that was capped off by Klusmeyer finding Exavior Hinton from 17 yards out to put the Hawks ahead 13-0. Ethan Beroiza capped off the first quarter scoring with a 30 yard field goal at the 1:21 mark.

Klusmeyer found the end zone with his feet just five minutes into the second quarter to make it 23-0 Hawks. The Eagles got on the board thanks to a 24 yard field goal with just over five minutes to go in the opening half.

The lone scoring drive of the 3rd quarter was Klusmeyer's second rushing touchdown of the evening to make it 30-3 Hawks on a 5 play, 16 yard drive that took 3 minutes and eight seconds.

The Klusmeyer to Hinton connection worked once more, this time from 11 yards out just 90 seconds into the fourth quarter to make it 37-3 Hawks. Beroiza nailed his 3rd field goal of the game at the mid-point of the final quarter.

The Hawks end their first year as a program with an overall record of 3-3 and 2-3 in MSFL play. They will be on the road as the 4 seed in the MSFL postseason with an opponent to be determined.
