MIDWAY, Ky. – The Hawks used a big first quarter and never looked back in their final regular season game against the Midway University Eagles. Quincy won by the score of 40-3 as the defense only allowed 118 yards.
The Hawks got on the board early in the opening stanza as they scored on a Taylor Klusmeyer 28 yard pass to Elijah Leasman. Just 3 minutes later, QU used a 5 play, 45 yard drive that was capped off by Klusmeyer finding Exavior Hinton from 17 yards out to put the Hawks ahead 13-0. Ethan Beroiza capped off the first quarter scoring with a 30 yard field goal at the 1:21 mark.
Klusmeyer found the end zone with his feet just five minutes into the second quarter to make it 23-0 Hawks. The Eagles got on the board thanks to a 24 yard field goal with just over five minutes to go in the opening half.
The lone scoring drive of the 3
rd quarter was Klusmeyer's second rushing touchdown of the evening to make it 30-3 Hawks on a 5 play, 16 yard drive that took 3 minutes and eight seconds.
The Klusmeyer to Hinton connection worked once more, this time from 11 yards out just 90 seconds into the fourth quarter to make it 37-3 Hawks. Beroiza nailed his 3
rd field goal of the game at the mid-point of the final quarter.
The Hawks end their first year as a program with an overall record of 3-3 and 2-3 in MSFL play. They will be on the road as the 4 seed in the MSFL postseason with an opponent to be determined.
