LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Hawks finished their inaugural season off strong with a win against the Bellarmine Knights on Saturday (Nov. 5) with some second half offense and their defense holding the Knights offense to just 175 total yards.
The Hawks offense struggled to get going in the beginning of the game as they went scoreless in the first half, but the defense kept them in the game by only allowing two touchdowns in the half as the game was 14-0 at halftime.
Quincy University's offense wasted no time getting back on track to begin the second half as they marched down the field on their first drive and scored their first touchdown of the game on a one-yard touchdown run by Hector Ramirez.
After multiple defensive stops the Hawks offense struck again this time on a perfect pass over the left shoulder of the defender by Taylor Klusmeye connecting with Exavior Hinton for a 10-yard touchdown pass to tie the game up at 14 each.
The Hawks defense remained strong and kept the game tied for the remainder of the third quarter and then in the fourth quarter Taylor Kulsmeye completed a pass to Elijah Leasman who shook his defender and took the ball all the way to the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown pass to give Quincy their first lead of the game 21-14.
The QU defense locked down the Knights offense for the remainder of the game not allowing a point. An Ethan Beroiza 30-yard field goal would secure the win for the Quincy University Hawks who scored 24 unanswered points to win the game 24-14. The Hawks finished their first season 4-3.
