Lady Hawks Held Scoreless on Senior Day

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team hosted their final regular season game at Jack Mackenzie Field on Sunday afternoon. Despite outshooting the Panthers, QU fell 1-0.

The Hawk strikers showed a wave of energy following the senior day ceremonies as senior Maddie Bauer got off a shot in the first two minutes, then Britini Bailey sent one at the keeper from outside the box, but the shot missed the cage.

Lauren Crane was able to fire one off in the 14th minute, but it missed the mark off to the right. Hannah Warnecke sent the first one on goal thirty minutes in with a shot right at the keeper.

While QU got four shots, the Panthers matched them six with two on goal near the ten-minute mark. Emilee Autry corralled the save both times.

At the half, both teams stayed on the field for the halftime break in a scoreless tie. The Hawks wasted no time getting a shot off after the second half kickoff. Madison Ledbetter sent one off high to the right just three minutes in. Drury matched QU's shot with another missed attempt, then Quincy had their best chance in the 56th minute. Sophia Bonaldi broke through the defense and sent a shot on the keeper on a full-extension save. Riley Hayes was left with the long rebound, but shot it just over the top crossbar.

The Hawks managed a couple more shots in Drury's defensive zone, but the Panthers got a one-on-one goal in the 77th minute to take the wind out of the Hawks' sails. Lexi Porchia sent one on goal, but it was saved as Quincy fell 1-0.
