ROLLA, Mo. - In the final regular season game of the season, the Quincy women's soccer team played a two-overtime, 2-2, draw on Friday (Apr.16) to the Miners of Missouri S&T. The Hawks finished the year 7-4-3 and were seeded fifth in the GLVC Conference Tournament bracket.
In the 10th minute of the game,
Paige Anderson connected with senior
Maddie Bauer on a low left strike that gave Quincy an early one-nil advantage. Nine minutes later, a foul in the box by the Hawks gave S&T a penalty kick in which the Miners capitalized on. The game was tied at one goal a piece. Just moments later a free kick by S&T led to another Miners goal as the Miners led, 2-1, with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Quincy stuck to their relentless physical effort and capitalized right before halftime in the 44th minute.
Riley Hayes was assisted by
Jessica Felix to tie the game at 2-2. The team entered the half tied at two while combining for four first half goals.
The halftime break brought many defensive adjustments that held the two teams scoreless over the next 45 minutes of the second half. Quincy was matched with S&T with only one shot on goal in the last regulation period, which resulted in a 2-2 tie through the first 90 minutes.
Over the next two overtimes, neither team was able to break through as Quincy attempted two shots on goal compared to the Miners one shot in extra time.
Emilee Autry had two total saves as her back defensive line limited the Miners attack to two shots on goal over the final 65 minutes of the contest.

The Hawks women's soccer team drew the fifth seed in the conference tournament following tonight's conclusion of the regular season. The top four seeds in the bracket host the quarterfinal rounds at their respective campuses. Quincy will play the No. 4 seed Lindenwood Lions in St. Charles, Missouri on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
