Laidler and White First QU Athletes to Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Quincy Hawk men's track and field team have qualified two student-athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships which will held this weekend (March 11-13) in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The Hawks will be sending sprinters Antonio Laidler and Jalon White to the big dance.

White was seventh on the list of qualifiers in the 400m dash. His blistering time of 47.66 set a new school record and won the event at the Washburn Ichabod Indoor Invite on February 13th.

Laidler punched his ticket by setting, breaking, and recording a new school record of 6.79 seconds at the UIndy Last Chance meet two weekends ago. His attempt set him as the tenth fastest qualifier in the nation in the event.

"We look forward to watching our Hawks fly," head coach Randy Overby said of his two athletes ahead of this weekend's national competition. This is the first time any QU track and field athlete has qualified for this national event, and it happened almost immediately in Overby's second year as the leader of the program.

After this event, the men's and women's track teams will set their sights on the outdoor season.
