Men's Golf Finishes 15th at Midwest Regional at Fox Run

EUREKA, Mo. - The Quincy Hawks men's golf team finished 15th out of 18 teams at the Midwest Regional held at Fox Run Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 11 & 12). Three different Hawks shot at least one round in the 70's over the three-round weekend.

Quincy shot a 324 as a team on the first day followed by a 327 in the second round in tough and soggy conditions. The Hawks improved their third round team score by double-digits in the third and final round after shooting a 310.

Ryan Kruse was the top finisher for QU after he recorded a 237 over three rounds which left him just outside the top-50 out of nearly 100 competitors. Kruse shot a 77 then an 85 on the first day, and he shot his best round in the final round after tallying a 75.

Nick Messinger also shot two rounds in the 70's over the weekend after shooting an 81 in round one. Messinger then lowered his score to 79 and 78 in rounds two and three for a 238 total stroke count.

Nathan Hoebing turned things around after a rough first round. The Quincy native recovered from an opening 93 by cutting the next two round scores to a 79 and 77.

QU's last event of the fall will be next week's Bearcat Dual Gender Invite held at Far Oaks Golf Course in Caseyville, IL.
