Hawks Fall At UMSL Despite 20 Points From Freshman Jazzpher Evans

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Quincy University women's basketball team got thirteen fourth quarter points from Jazzpher Evans, but the Hawks lost 76-68 at Missouri- St. Louis on Thursday evening (Dec. 3). Evans finished the game with a career-high 20 points. 

The Hawks fell behind early by seven points before going on a 10-4 run over a four-minute span to pull within three. 

After the opening quarter, QU trailed 17-12. The Hawks shot 38.5 percent from the field in the first ten minutes of play. 

Three-pointers from Emma Knipe and Dami Adeyinka gave the Hawks an offensive spark and helped QU pull within three points once again.

Laney Lantz then took over by scoring nine straight for the Hawks. This tear by the sophomore from Augusta, Illinois helped tie the game with 2:33 left in the first half, 29-29.
 
QU was held scoreless the final two minutes of the period while the Tritons scored five unanswered to end the half.

UMSL came out and took it to the Hawks to start the second half. With 7:40 to play in the third, the Tritons gained a 43-31 lead.

Later in the quarter, a driving floater from Jazzpher Evans and a jump hook from Marta Rivera pulled the Hawks within five, 47-42. 

Solid defensive from the Tritons over the final four minutes in the third helped UMSL gain a 60-43 lead going into the final period. 

In the fourth, Freshman Jazzpher Evans scored 13 points in the last-minute effort, but it would not be enough. 

Quincy fell on the road by a final of 76-68.
