Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Quincy University men's volleyball team fell to Ohio State in straight sets Saturday night (Mar. 23). The Hawks lost 25-12, 25-17, 25-20.

Play by Play

1st Set

The Buckeyes jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the opening set.

The Hawks gained momentum with a Blake Sprecher kill and went on a three point run to cut the lead to 10-7.

Ohio State won eight of the next 9 points, forcing a QU timeout. The score sat at 18-8.

The deficit was too much for the Hawks to overcome as the Buckeyes took the first set 25-12.

2nd Set

Looking to tie the match at one set, the Hawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind a Ben Rachilla kill.

The Buckeyes answered with a six point run to take the lead 6-2. 

Ohio State later pushed their lead to 12-4, forcing a QU timeout.

The Hawks came out of the timeout and won four of the next five points to make the score 13-8.

QU continued to cut into the lead. Kills by Rachilla and Jacob Sheets made the score 15-11.

The Hawks could not get any closer as the Buckeyes used a five point run to extend their lead and won the second set 25-17.

3rd Set

The Hawks jumped out to a 4-3 lead in the third set behind kills from Rachilla, Sheets, and Brendon Estrada.

Both teams traded points before the Buckeyes used a four point run to take an 11-8 lead.

QU later capitalized on two Ohio State errors to cut the lead to 15-13.

The Buckeyes would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the third set. Ohio State won the final set 25-20 to take a 3-0 victory.
