MACOMB, Ill. – The Quincy University women's basketball team spread around their 54 points with eleven players scoring against Western Illinois on Tuesday night (Hawktober 29). The Leathernecks topped QU, 85-54, in the Hawks first exhibition matchup of the season.
Alexa Low led the way with 13 points, while
Aleksandra Petrovic chipped in with 12 points.
How It Happened
The Hawks jumped out to an early 10-8 lead behind six quick points from senior forward
Alexa Low. That lead was short-lived, however, as the Leathernecks went on a seven-point run to end the first quarter and carried a 39-26 lead into halftime.
Aleksandra Petrovic knocked down two free throws and
Maddie Spagnola found
Grace Schraufnagel for a fast break layup to cut the deficit to nine at the start of the third quarter. That is as close as the Hawks would get. Western Illinois started to heat up after that and kept the Quincy offense in check. The home team outscored the Hawks 46-28 in the final two quarters to solidify the 85-48 victory.
