Hawks In Action at Knox College Open

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's and men's track and field teams were in action on Saturday (April 9) at the Knox College Outdoor Open in Galesburg, Ill.

The women's team finished seventh in a 10-team field while the men finished ninth out of nine teams.

The key performance for the women came from junior Elizabeth Leden, who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:18.84 to garner 10 points for the Lady Hawks.

Quincy also got a strong performance from sophomore Megan McClure in the 5k race. She finished with a sub 20-minute time, clocking in at 19:57.58, good for third place and 6 points for QU.

The team of Leden, freshman Kellyn Lamore, freshman Ashley Doellman and senior Brittney Klosak was fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:39.87. QU picked up six points for that showing.

Leden was fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.23 for four total points. Sophomore Dede Barrigah finished that race in 1:13.52.

Lamore was seventh in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:35.56.

On the men's side, senior Michael Crotteau picked up three points for the Hawks for a sixth place finish in the 5k race. He crossed the line in 16:54.27.

In the 400-meter run, junior Derek Armstrong finished with a time of 55.73 seconds. He was 14^th in that race, while teammate Conner Gibbons was 16^th with a time of 57.33 seconds. Gibbons ran 11^th in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:13.87.

The Hawks had four competitors in the shot put, led by senior Sam Rohr, who tossed his implement 10.97 meters to finish in 19^th place. Junior Robbie Overstreet (10.63 meters), sophomore Jake Bass-Barber (9.89 meters) and freshman Lincoln McGrath (8.14 meters) also competed in the event.

Bass-Barber was 13^th in the javelin with a throw of 37.43 meters. Overstreet was 16^th in the discus and Rohr was 17^th.

Both teams return to competition next Saturday (April 16) when they travel William Jewell for the Darrel Gourley Invite.
